One of nature’s favourite colours, brown is earthy and grounding! The hallmark of 70s and 90s décor trends, we thought it was gone forever but it’s back with its sense of security, strength and comfort. Just in the nick of time we say! This month we’re all for dark interiors for the cooler months and are getting back to basics with warm and stable Black Bean (71).

Associated with wisdom, independence and creativity, the right amount of brown in the right space introduces a grounded sophistication to a space. Peppered with raw materials and natural elements, it has the power to bring us back down to earth after a busy day in the world.

When talking browns, we mustn’t forget that enduring transcendent piece, the leather couch. Whether your home is classic, contemporary or modern, a leather couch is luxurious, cosy, homey and cool all at once. Add a few accent colours and a scatter or two and you’re set!

Pairing dark brown with other colours is easy and we especially love the effect when partnered with a strong navy blue for a smart stylish look or a playful aquamarine for a light and airy space.

As a feature colour, elegant Black Bean is the perfect hue for our Luxury colour story which aims to create lavish interiors that promote a calm, balanced and grounded life. It works especially well when creating that dark interior monotone for the grown-up effect.

For a masculine feel in a study or bedroom, try teaming serious Black Bean up with Ravine (62), Plascon’s grey neutral of the year enlivened with splashes of saturated cobalt Winter Storm (B3-B1-2). Mid-century furniture and textural elements such as a throw or a rich floor rug will enhance the authentic masculine presence.

There are so many ways to get the grounding, luxurious effect of brown in your space so give it a try today!
