What do you think of Pantone's choice and what is represents?

From its 'light affirming’ predecessor, Pantone Greenery, comes this vivid and bold hue that has a limitless appeal. According to the Pantone Color Institute, “Complex and contemplative, Ultra Violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now. The vast and limitless night sky is symbolic of what is possible and continues to inspire the desire to pursue a world beyond our own.” It is a blue-based purple that is bold and has a reaffirming and energising sensibility. It is a colour that will translate well across most creative industries.

What is the impact of the colour purple?

Purple is often associated with royalty, luxury and power. It represents creativity, mystery, magic, and independence. Purple is a rarity in nature making the dyes rare. Purple is situated between red and blue on the colour wheel, merging the rich warm passionate tones of red with the cool royal tones of blues. The impact of purple can depend on whether it has more red or blue in it. Ultra Violet sits closer to the blue spectrum of colours giving it blue undertone.

What Plascon colour is similar?

We think Jubilee Violet P2-B1-1and Sunset Mauve P3-B1-1 are both good matches. Jubilee Violet has less red than Sunset Mauve.
