It's August and Women's Month in Mzansi: A time to embrace all the rocking sisters out there who are making it work and making it count. Wives, moms, lovers, bosses, grannies, daughters and aunties, at Plascon we believe women empowerment is about your choice to be the woman you want to be. That's why we are all about Urban Rock (B4-E1-2), a grounding colour that gives you the space to choose your own path.

As a touchpoint to start or end your day, having a space painted in Urban Rock will leave you grounded and prepared for anything that comes your way.

Incorporating Urban Rock in your home is a cinch. Go with the monochromatic look in your kitchen or introduce it to your entrance way to leave you with a 'go you good thing, go' feeling.

Being a woman, I contemplate the validity of all the celebrations during Women's month. I read about the silent protests at Rhodes University and the suicide of Khensani Maseko following her rape, allegedly by her then-partner. Do we celebrate how far we have come since the march of 1956? What happens next?
Marie Claire ran a poll on 01 August to ask women what they believe the purpose of Women's Month is: 58% percent of us said that it is there to uplift women, 24% said it is just more meaningless marketing, and 14% said it has no meaning.
Whether you believe we have something to celebrate during Women's day or not, each of us owes it to ourself to love, honour and celebrate our own womanhood.
I start by surrounding myself with colours that are uplifting. For now it is Urban Rock; not only for the beauty of the colour and what it does, but also because it has a beautifully rock-solid name.
Let us know what you surround yourself with during this August, and what Women's Day means to you.
