This stripy focal wall starring nature-inspired shades from the 2017 Forecast’s Terrain palette is guaranteed to dial up the drama, whatever the space.

YOU NEED

Plascon Cashmere in Landing (EC 67), Sunrise Glow (Y2-A1-2), Ridge (G5-E1-3), Auberge (EC 66), Terra Nova (R6-D1-2), Sunset in the Desert (O3-B1-1), In the Mood (O6-E2-3) and Haley’s Cove (B6-D1-3).

Other: Masking tape, pencil, metal ruler and paintbrush.

TIME NEEDED

One day.

Step 1: Paint the entire wall in two coats of the lightest colour, Landing, letting the first coat dry in between. Once dry, start measuring and masking off stripes by colour, in different widths, making sure to press the tape down well to prevent the paint from bleeding.

Step 2: Working from light to dark, start painting two coats of each colour onto the chosen stripes. The first stripes will be painted in In the Mood, the second in Sunrise Glow, and so on. Remember to leave some of the masked-off stripes unpainted so as to include the base colour, Landing, in the effect.

Step 3: After painting a set of stripes, carefully peel back the tape while the paint is still wet. This will ensure crisp edges.

Step 4: Continue until all the colours have been used. When painting two coloured stripes next to one another, ensure that the adjacent colour is properly dried before masking it off.
