Forewarned is definitely forearmed when painting your house for the first time. Avoid these three common rookie mistakes...
1. APPLYING WATER-BASED PAINT DIRECTLY OVER OIL-BASED PAINT.
This could cause the new layers of paint to flake off. Lightly sand the oil-painted surface before applying a layer of Plascon Universal Undercoat and allowing to dry.
2. PAINTING A DIRTY WALL.
If you don’t clean your wall before painting it, you might notice strange knots and ripples on the surface of the new paint. Prevent this by washing your walls with sugar soap and hot water before you start painting.
3. APPLYING A SECOND COAT OF PAINT BEFORE THE FIRST IS DRY.
This can lead to unsightly brushstrokes or, worse still, the first layer of paint being pulled off by the roller.
